Is the 2024 Ram 1500 Classic Being Discontinued?

Is the 2024 Ram 1500 Classic Being Discontinued?

Rumours about the Ram 1500 Classic's discontinuation rose last year since Ram is taking ages to announce the new lineup. However, we can discontinue the rumours, at least for 2024. The Ram Classic will be back for more, celebrating its 15th anniversary.

A Timeless Classic

The first Ram 1500 Classic was released in 2009 and was an instant success. It’s one of the most muscular pickup trucks in the automotive industry, and it has been improving continuously since. There’s no information regarding the 2024 lineup on the official website yet.

Indeed, that’s the very root of the rumours about discontinuation. Other Ram pickup trucks have already been confirmed, including the Ram 4500, Ram 3500, Ram 2500, and Ram 1500. While the official website still displays the 2023 version, there’s nothing about the 2024 lineup so far.

However, the carmaker’s spokesperson has confirmed to Motor1 that the Classic will run into another year. Furthermore, according to Car and Driver, a few features have already been confirmed.

What We Already Know

What We Already Know

Two trim levels will be equipped with different powertrains: the award-winning 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 and the powerful 5.7-litre HEMI V8. Both options have eight-speed automatic transmissions. The base model is expected to cost $40,700*, a considerable increase compared to the previous year. There’ll be a standard 7-inch touchscreen display for all models.

The Pentastar engine delivers 269 lb-ft of torque capacity and 305 horsepower. In contrast, the HEMI powertrain has 410 lb-ft of torque and 395 horsepower. It means that the Classic isn’t losing muscles as it gets older. Nevertheless, not many changes are expected for the new version, and that’s why Motor1 suspects that price tags won’t change much either.

Anyway, it’s too soon to know; the carmaker hasn’t disclosed information about pricing as yet. It’s also unclear when the 2024 version will come up or why it’s the only pickup truck that isn’t out yet.

Are 2023 Models Still Worth It?

Despite the anticipation surrounding the 2024 lineup, the 2023 version is still quite appealing. Powertrains, performance estimates and specs are unlikely to change radically. Moreover, you’ll have the chance to save a few bucks and still have a high-level pickup truck that’s far from obsolete.

The 2023 lineup allows you to upgrade infotainment features to an 8.4-inch display and also includes a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a wireless hotspot, voice command, and remote start.
